Overview

Explore the Ecuadorian rainforest and Galápagos Islands over the course of this 9-day adventure. Begin in Quito, Ecuador's capital, sitting high in the Andean foothills at an altitude of 2,850 meters (9,350 feet). Constructed on the foundations of an ancient Incan city, Quito is known for its Spanish colonial buildings dating back more than 500 years. Take it in from the cable car: a gondola ride up the Pichincha volcano. 

On days two and three, enjoy all that Ecuador’s wildlife has to offer. At the Napo Wildlife Center, take a magical and peaceful two-hour paddle in a dugout canoe along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located. This is a great opportunity to spot wildlife, various species of monkeys, and large birds like toucans, parrots, or even macaws. This trip also includes a visit to the best parrot clay licks in Ecuador! Get an early start and paddle downstream on the Añangu Creek. Then, take a 10-minute motorboat ride to wonderful views of thousands of parrots, such as mealy Amazon, blue-headed, and orange-cheeked parrots. Hike through a marvelous terra firme forest and canoe back to the Napo River, where you may see giant otters, monk saki monkeys, hoatzins, and black-capped donacobius, all while exploring all that Ecuador has to offer.
